Our Company Values
To open the 2019 year, as an organization, we are actively reorganizing and overhauling the various meanings behind our company’s values, mission statement, and vision. From our eight previously-identified values, we have constructed a newly improved list of virtues with insight as to what each personality trait or skill means to Creatuity. Our new values will consist of: Integrity, Community, Ownership, Resourcefulness, and Relationships.
At Creatuity, we search for ways to ensure that all of our employees relate strongly to company values, to unite individuals with a variety of personalities, communication styles, and organizational roles. We believe in constant improvement and innovation in all aspects; We prioritize work-life balance, creativity and cultivating a mindset that fosters forward-thinking. In order to provide a positive work environment for everyone, regardless of status or position, each team member is responsible for internalizing and illustrating our values. The following article regarding Integrity will be the first of a deep-dive series into what each of the five virtues represent to each of us at both an individual and company-wide level.
Integrity
Integrity means that we are truthful and honest in all areas of life, in our professional work and in our personal lives. When faced with difficult decisions and hard choices, we do the right thing, even in the face of adversity. We are committed to our values and we protect our company culture through our commitment to possessing integrity at an organizational level. Carrying out each action with honestly will foster trustworthiness amongst each other, with our clients, and in our dealings with others. In order to be honest with others, we must be totally honest with ourselves by consistently doing what is moral, just, and fair in every situation.
Doing things with integrity is not optional or situational; because integrity is the foundation of good leadership, demonstrating this value is integral to gaining the trust of our coworkers, supervisors, clients, and the global Magento community. Living with integrity requires doing what’s right even when it’s difficult or won’t be acknowledged by others. It’s imperative not to compromise our integrity, even in seemingly-unimportant situations with no obvious negative consequences so that justifying these things does not become easy or commonplace.
In our lives and in our work, leading with integrity is a necessity that centers on the idea that our actions are open and transparent– we do not lie or hide the reality of situations. At Creatuity, we value this virtue because a workplace in which supervisors and employees carry out their work with integrity is one that is successful, healthy, and fosters desirable leadership qualities in others. We treat everyone the same, regardless of that individual’s position within our organization. Leaders with integrity follow through when they give their word and do not make promises they can’t keep.
We are not afraid of authenticity or the consequences of our actions. While we are committed to our values, we maintain an open mind and accept that we are sometimes wrong or uninformed; admitting our mistakes and taking ownership of their repercussions is not shameful. As leaders, we hold ourselves accountable to ourselves, superiors, staff, and our peers. Moral, ethical behavior starts with those at the top and is replicated as it trickles down the organization to aid in the illustration of our company’s mission and purpose.
In our interactions and relationships with clients and others in our ecosystem, we do not exaggerate or boast our own individual successes, but instead, we are fast to praise the contributions and successes of others. Those who possess integrity stand out as role models to others because they way they value the people and things around them are reflected in their behavior. When we operate from a place of integrity, we hold ourselves accountable and endeavor to product honest, excellent work no matter what the occasion.
Our values and morals are clearly reflected in our work; both in the ways we communicate internally with each other and externally with those outside of our organization. We place a high importance on integrity in our team members because those who possess this value attract and inspire others with similar qualities, appealing to individuals with good character that fit well within our company culture. So, those in supervisory positions need to utilize their words, decisions, and leadership style not to gain influence over others, but to develop a mutual sense of trust, dependability, and respect.
